Bayern Munich defenders Jerome Boateng and David Alaba both plan on remaining at the club next season, despite recent rumors otherwise.
Throughout recent weeks, both Jerome Boateng and David Alaba have been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich, especially the former. These rumors really took off following Boateng’s injury against Real Madrid.
The Berlin-born center-back, speaking with magazine Socrates after the match, hinted that a move away from Munich wouldn’t be inconceivable. He alluded to the temptation of proving himself in another league, on another team.
However, since then Boateng has affirmed his dedication to the German champions. Speaking in an interview with AZ‘s Patrick Strasser, he confirmed that he plans to return to Bayern Munich after the World Cup rather than seek a new challenge.
"“I want to get fit, play the World Cup and then go to the new season with Bayern.“At my age, [considering a change of clubs is] normal. But I have a contract here and no thought to go away. I feel comfortable here.”"

Boateng was pretty clear in his statement that he’ll be wearing red once again next season. When fit, he’s one of the best center-backs in the world. Losing him would have been a bit of a blow for the Bavarians, even with Mats Hummels and Niklas Sule both showing their worth.
Like Boateng, David Alaba has also confirmed his loyalty to Bayern Munich for the next season. A few months ago the Austrian spoke about the possibility of a change in scenery. However, Alaba has now hinted that he will still be at Bayern next season. It was once again AZ who provided the report, sharing some quotes from the left-back after Bayern’s Champions League loss against Real Madrid.
"“We will get up again next season, we want to attack together again in the Champions League.”"
According to AZ‘s report, Alaba’s specific use of “we” is a clear signal from the player that he is happy at Bayern and is only thinking of playing for the club.
Alaba, like Boateng, is an outstanding player. His loss would be a huge blow for die Roten. Given Niko Kovac’s preference for a three-at-the-back formation, which heavily utilizes wing-backs, Alaba could be a key player for Bayern next season.
It would be a big shock to see either Alaba or Boateng leave the club over the summer. They’re both happy at the club and playing an important role. Furthermore, Bayern Munich has no financial obligation to sell their best players.

With both players confirming their intent to stay in Munich, expect Jerome Boateng and David Alaba to be key players in the Bavarian defense once again next season.
