After clinching a deal for Luis Diaz from Liverpool, Bayern Munich will turn their attention to signing the second attacking player. They have a concrete interest in Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart.

The German striker can play in multiple positions in the attack. He can also be a long-term successor of Harry Kane in the number nine position. After missing out on Florian Wirtz, Bayern want to make Nick Woltemade the big German signing of the summer. They have reportedly agreed on personal terms with the 23-year-old forward.

Woltemade is pushing for a move to Bayern. He has reportedly rejected interest from Napoli and Chelsea. However, VfB Stuttgart have no plans to part ways with one of their top players this summer. They have already rejected two bids from Bayern, with the second bid being worth €55 million (€50 million plus €5 million in add-ons). The Bavarian club had also included a 10% sell-on clause in the second bid.

Stuttgart are showing no signs of relenting after multiple bids were launched by Bayern. Woltemade has reported for pre-season training at Stuttgart. While talking to Sky Sports on Monday, Stuttgart’s Sporting Director, Fabian Wohlgemuth, admitted that the club expects Woltemade to stay at the club next season.

"There's no news. Nick will very likely be part of our squad again this season. We've communicated that clearly and unequivocally. It's our responsibility to focus on what will help us get a good start to the new season. That's why we're only thinking about the relevant topics. A transfer of Nick under the current circumstances is simply not relevant"

Should Bayern Munich make a third bid for Woltemade?

Bayern had halted negotiations with Stuttgart since they were not getting any encouragement, even for having talks to resolve the situation. Since Stuttgart are in a good financial position, they are not under pressure to sell Woltemade.

Die Roten can firmly focus on Woltemade later this week once Diaz completes his medical on Tuesday. The German champions should be mindful that Woltemade has just one strong season in the Bundesliga under his belt. It doesn’t make sense to pay an exorbitant fee for him right now.

Since they don’t have an enormous budget to spend on transfers, Bayern should certainly take a cautious approach in their pursuit of Woltemade. The second bid was fairly reasonable for the German forward who just had his breakout season in the Bundesliga. Die Roten should play the waiting game and leverage the players’ willingness to join to get a good deal with Stuttgart.

Even if Bayern don’t get the deal for Woltemade over the line this summer, they can come back for him next summer. Several other attacking options in the market tick the boxes for their second attacking signing of this transfer window.
