Bayern Munich will resume their Champions League campaign after the November international break with another top-of-the-table clash. The defending Bundesliga champions travel to the Emirates Stadium for a blockbuster game against Arsenal.
The Bavarian club is enjoying a 100%-win record in the Champions League this season, which includes a 2-1 win away at Paris Saint-Germain on matchday four. Similarly, Arsenal have not dropped a point in the Champions League this side.
Bayern come into Wednesday’s game on the back of a 6-2 win against Freiburg at Allianz Arena. It was a massive win as Die Roten came back from a 2-0 deficit to claim all three points. Meanwhile, Arsenal had clinched a comfortable 4-1 win against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The clash at Emirates Stadium is beautifully set up as both teams have been in sublime form this campaign.
Team News
Bayern Munich have received a boost for their game against Arsenal as Serge Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich returned to training this week. The German duo didn’t play against Freiburg on Saturday, but they are fit to play against Arsenal. Luis Diaz will miss the game against Arsenal due to suspension.
Lennart Karl has also recovered from a minor knock that he suffered in the second half against Freiburg. The youngster has travelled to London with the squad. Alphonso Davies has participated in parts of the first-team training. The Bavarian club is hoping to see Davies play a couple of games before the winter break. Jamal Musiala remains the long-term absentee for Bayern.
Predicted Starting XI
Manuel Neuer couldn’t have done anything about the two goals conceded against Freiburg. The German goalkeeper will hope to avoid a similar start against Arsenal on Wednesday. Neuer stepped up against PSG in the last game, so expect him to deliver a quality performance in a big European game.
The back four picks itself for Wednesday’s game. Jonathan Tah and Dayot Upamecano will form the center-back pairing at the Emirates Stadium. Josip Stanisic and Konrad Laimer are likely to get the nod for the left-back and right-back positions, respectively.
Joshua Kimmich will return to the starting lineup after missing the game against Freiburg due to a knee injury. He will start alongside Aleksandar Pavlovic in the center of the park. The German duo has a big task of stopping Arsenal from dictating the game.
Michael Olise will look to continue his good run of form on Wednesday as he will start on the right flank. Harry Kane will lead the attack, while Serge Gnabry will return to the starting XI on the left flank. Vincent Kompany may go with Lennart Karl in the number ten role on Wednesday after the youngster’s explosive performance against Freiburg.
Predicted Started XI- Neuer; Stanisic, Tah, Upamecano, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Gnabry, Karl, Olise; Kane
