Bayern Munich continued their fine run of form in the Bundesliga on Friday. They clinched a comfortable 4-0 win against Werder Bremen at Allianz Arena to ensure they have a lead of four points over arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Harry Kane stole the headlines for this game as he scored his 100th goal for Bayern in record time. Apart from the English forward, it was a game to remember for Tom Bischof. It was his first Bundesliga start in the Bavarian colours.

Bischof kept things tidy in the center of the park and rounded off a good performance with an assist late in the game. Manuel Neuer had a lot of praise for the youngster after the game for delivering a solid performance in front of home fans.

It has been a mixed start to life at Bayern for Bischof since arriving from Hoffenheim on a free transfer in the summer. He got opportunities from the bench during the Club World Cup. After a decent pre-season, Bischof was sidelined for a few games due to appendicitis. However, he is now ready to make a case for himself to get adequate playing time.

While talking to the club magazine, Bischof insisted that he considers himself a challenger in the current squad. He is confident about making an impact on the pitch if he continues to work hard in training and makes himself available on the ball.

"I see myself in the role of challenger at Bayern. To prove myself, I always try to give 100%. I prepare well before and after every training session. And when I get playing time, I want to take advantage of it."

Bayern need to give ideal platform for Bischof to succeed

Bischof has already shown the desire to excel at Bayern. However, the Bavarian club also needs to provide him with the right platform to showcase his talent. The record Bundesliga champions have struggled to show trust in young midfielders over the last decade.

Renato Sanches, Mickael Cuisance, Ryan Gravenberch, and Marc Roca arrived at Bayern with great potential. However, Bayern couldn’t give them adequate playing time to excel. They should avoid making the same mistake with Bischof.

In Bischof and Aleksandar Pavlovic, Bayern have two great midfield talents who can be part of their spine for several years. In an ideal scenario, Bischof ends up getting at least 1000 minutes on the pitch this season. Vincent Kompany should show trust in him when he is rotating the squad to manage the workload of senior players. Since Bayern have a much smaller squad this season, Bischof has good chance to establish himself at the club this season and polish the rough edges of his game.
