After enduring a trophyless season in more than a decade, Bayern Munich decided to make a coaching change in the summer. They parted ways with Thomas Tuchel and appointed Vincent Kompany as the new head coach.

The Belgian head coach was not Bayern’s first choice option for the head coach role. After failing to close deals with several coaches, Bayern turned their attention towards Kompany at the end of last season. They swiftly agreed a compensation with Burnley to get Kompany in the building.

Considering the lack of experience at the top level as a coach, the appointment of Kompany at Bayern certainly raised eyebrows. However, the Belgian coach has calmly silenced his doubters with a strong start to the season. Bayern are currently leading the Bundesliga table due to a superior goal difference than RB Leipzig.

Despite a rough week before the ongoing international break, which saw them suffer defeat against Aston Villa in the Champions League and dropped points in the Bundesliga due to draws against Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt, the overall performances under Kompany have been impressive.
