Big season ahead for Sacha Boey

The departure of Noussair Mazraoui and injury to Josip Stanisic has presented an opportunity to nail down a place in the starting XI for Sacha Boey. The French full-back showed his best and worst against Wolfsburg.

Boey worked tirelessly on the right flank in the first half. He did well to set up the goal on the plate for Jamal Musiala. The French defender was tidy on the ball and looked good while going forward.

After a promising first half, Boey conceded a penalty early in the first half. The French defender looked nervy during the 15-minute spell at the start of the second half when Bayern conceded their lead. Kompany took him off just after the hour mark and moved Kimmich to the right-back position. Despite a nervy 15-minute spell, Boey did well on his return to the starting XI.

Kompany reportedly rates Boey highly as he tried to sign him at Burnley. The first half against Wolfsburg showed why Bayern broke their winter transfer record to buy Boey last season. After a miserable first six months in Munich, Boey is set for a big season with Bayern as he will play regularly under Kompany.
