Six Bayern Munich players have been called up to the Germany squad by Julian Nagelsmann for this summer's European Championship on home soil.
Germany have announced a 27-man preliminary squad for this summer's Euro 2024. Six Bayern Munich players have made the cut, with Manuel Neuer and Joshua Kimmich leading the way. Jamal Musiala, Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Aleksandar Pavlović have also been named in the squad by Julian Nagelsmann.
Bayern Munich loanee Alexander Nübel has also been included, and is one of the four goalkeepers in the squad, along with Neuer, Marc-André ter Stegen, and Oliver Baumann.
Nagelsmann sprung a few surprises with his selections, with in-form Borussia Dortmund duo Mats Hummels and Julian Brandt failing to make the cut. Bayern midfielder Leon Goretzka was also left out. And the 36 year old admitted during his press conference that Goretzka was extremely disappointed not to be included in the squad.
Serge Gnabry was also left out of the squad after suffering a hamstring injury during the second leg of Bayern Munich's UEFA Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid. Sané and Musiala have also been dealing with injury problems in recent weeks, but Nagelsmann expects them to be fit in time for the start of Euro 2024.
The likes of Chris Führich, Pascal Groß, Maximilian Beier, and Maximilian Mittelstädt have also been named in the Germany squad after impressing at club level over the course of this season. With a maximum of 26 players allowed in a roster, one player will be omitted from the final Germany squad for Euro 2024.
Germany will begin their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland at the Allianz Arena in Munich. They will then square off against Hungary in Stuttgart, before rounding off the group stage in Frankfurt against Switzerland.
