Serge Gnabry believes that Bayern Munich's come from behind win over VfL Wolfsburg will be good for their morale and self-confidence.
Bayern Munich began their Bundesliga season with a win, but they certainly had to work hard for it. After controlling proceedings in the first-half, the Bavarians presented Wolfsburg with a route back into the game.
Jamal Musiala's opener was canceled out by Lovro Majer, before the Wolfsburg midfielder scored again on the back of a sloppy error from Kim Min-jae. But Bayern did not let the deficit faze them, and managed to turn things around once again. An own goal saw them get back on level terms ten minutes later, before Serge Gnabry scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute.
Serge Gnabry: Win over Wolfsburg good for Bayern Munich's morale
Bayern Munich's match-winner spoke after the game about the fighting spirit the team showed. "It was very difficult, very exhausting. We fought our way back after going 2-1 down. At the end of the day, we're very happy with that and happy to take it with us - good for morale, good for self-confidence. It was a very exhausting Sunday afternoon," Gnabry said in an interview with DAZN after the game.
Gnabry also spoke about his match-winning goal and hailed Harry Kane and Thomas Müller for the part they played in setting it up. "I didn't expect Thommy [Thomas Müller] to make it there, but he did a great job. Harry [Kane] luckily spotted me and put it right into my path. Luckily the ball hit the inside of the post and then went into the goal."
After a summer filled with speculation surrounding his future, Gnabry's goal against Wolfsburg should serve as a huge boost to his confidence. The winger will hope to keep his place in the starting XI this weekend as Bayern Munich play at the Allianz Arena for the first time this season - against SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
