Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka have been left out, whilst Manuel Neuer and Thomas Muller have retired from international duty after playing at the Euros in the summer.

It is a new era at the German national team after the retirement of several senior players. Joshua Kimmich has been appointed as the new captain, while Marc-André ter Stegen will succeed Manuel Neuer in the goal.
