Max Eberl has revealed when Leroy Sané could realistically return to action after missing the entire pre-season due to injury.

Leroy Sané underwent groin surgery last month in a bid to fix the issue that hampered him for much of the second half of last season and the European Championship. The winger made his return to team training earlier this week, and there is hope that he could make a swift comeback to the team.

But Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl has now revealed that Sané is more likely to return to action after the international break. If that does prove to be the case, the 28 year old would miss the Bavarians' games against VfL Wolfsburg and SC Freiburg in the Bundesliga. "I don't know if it makes sense to throw him in before the international break," Eberl said (via BILD).

Sané missed a number of games due to a pubic bone issue for much of the second half of last season. He played through the pain barrier in the crunch UEFA Champions League games. The injury also affected him at this summer's European Championship, and he decided to undergo surgery following Germany's exit in the quarterfinals.

The hope at Bayern will be that Sané can finally put the injury behind him and rediscover his form from the first half of last season. The Germany international will have a crucial role to play for Bayern this season and could line up alongside the likes of Michael Olise, Jamal Musiala, and Harry Kane in attack.
