Max Eberl is hoping to create an environment of coaching stability at Bayern Munich after years of big changes.

The Bayern Munich head coach job has become a bit of a revolving door in recent years, with the club having had eight coaches since Pep Guardiola’s departure in 2016. Bayern's struggles at finding a replacement for Thomas Tuchel were also well documented, before the bosses ultimately ended up appointing Vincent Kompany (which also came as a big surprise).

The Belgian could not have asked for a better start to life at Bayern Munich. And Max Eberl has now commented on the coaching stability he wants to implement at the club in the coming years.

In an interview with the 11 Freunde magazine, the Bayern Munich board member for sport highlighted how he wants to have a more consistent coaching presence at the club.

“The way a club operates always has an impact. I am convinced that the people involved always had the best interests of the club in mind when they made the dismissals. Now I want to help FC Bayern not only win many titles during my time in office, but also regain consistency in the coaching position. Bayern has always been very stable. Often, coaches were only sacked when the club was below the Europa League places. I want us to return to this stability.”

Eberl also spoke about wanting to instil a new spirit in the team after Bayern Munich’s run at the top of the Bundesliga ended last season, with Bayer Leverkusen winning the title.

“Perhaps a certain routine had set in after eleven years as serial champions. Everyone who is so spoiled by success falls into the belief, at least to some extent, that we'll get there in the end anyway. That's why we want to create a new spirit of optimism in the team. Not least because I'm one of the few people at FC Bayern who has never held the trophy in his hands.”

The two Bundesliga title rivals will go head-to-head this weekend as Bayern Munich host Bayer Leverkusen.
