Manuel Neuer believes that a complete reset is needed at Bayern Munich as they look to recover from their first season without a trophy since 2012.

Bayern Munich ended their dismal Bundesliga campaign on Saturday with a devastating 4-2 defeat to TSG Hoffenheim. The defeat saw the Bavarians slip to third place in the standings, 18 points behind Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Not a lot has gone right for Bayern Munich in recent weeks, with things going off the rails both on and off the pitch. And Manuel Neuer believes that things cannot keep going like this if Bayern Munich are to return to the top of German football next season.

"It was a very difficult season for all of us. I believe that there has to be a fresh start now, for us, for the club and also from us as a team. It is clear that things cannot continue like this. We have to show a completely different face as a team next season in order to be able to compete again."

The first and foremost task for the Bayern Munich bosses will be to find a new head coach. The club's search for Thomas Tuchel's successor has not gone according to plan so far, and it still remains to be seen who will be in the Bayern dugout next season.

An overhaul of the Bayern Munich squad is also planned for this summer, and time is certainly of the essence for Max Eberl and co. as they look to ensure that the club is ready to compete for the Bundesliga title next season.
