Kingsley Coman played for Bayern Munich against Wolfsburg in the first game week of the Bundesliga on Sunday. The French winger came off the bench in the 75th minute as Bayern were searching for the winner. Despite regularly playing for Vincent Kompany during the pre-season, Coman’s future in Munich is uncertain ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday.

The French winger is open to leaving Bayern after nine successful years. Coman wants to leave Bayern only for an appealing project that will help him compete for big trophies. It does look like the Premier League could become a destination for the French international.

According to reliable France Football journalist Nabil Djellit, Liverpool are interested in signing Coman from Bayern to strengthen their attack. The Merseyside club is actively looking to strengthen their squad before deadline day. Apart from Coman, Liverpool reportedly have an interest in Juventus winger Federico Chiesa.

Coman was initially in no rush to leave Bayern since he was settled in Munich. However, the winger is now open to complete a transfer. According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Coman decided to leave Bavaria after Bayern expressed a desire to move him on as they look to trim their wage bill.

Liverpool would be a perfect destination for Coman. The Premier League club is competing for big trophies in England and has returned to the Champions League this season. Die Roten are also ready to sanction a loan move with an option/obligation to buy, which would appeal to Liverpool.

Saudi Arabia remain in race to sign Coman

It has been consistently reported in France and Germany that Coman wants to stay in Europe. However, Saudi Arabian clubs remain keen on the French winger. According to Bild’s Christian Falk, interest from Saudi Arabia in Coman remains concrete, and talks continue to take place with Bayern. L’Equipe has reported that Al-Hilal is the Saudi Arabian club showing the most interest in Coman.

Coman endured a difficult 2023/24 season at Bayern due to injuries. The French winger couldn’t get a run of games in the starting XI due to several injury problems. Bayern have already strengthened the attack this summer by signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. With Serge Gnabry set to stay in Munich, Bayern want to part ways with Coman before the end of the transfer window.

Bayern are not expected to sign a replacement for Coman if he ends up leaving the club before the transfer deadline. The club chiefs believe the squad is well-equipped in the wide positions. They will look to strengthen the attack next summer with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz their top target.
