Bayern Munich will have difficult conversations with a few senior players regarding their future at the club. Joshua Kimmich is probably the most high-profile player from Bayern that could leave this summer. The German midfielder has only one year left on his contract.

Kimmich will sit down with Vincent Kompany and Bayern chiefs once he returns from vacation. There is a significant chance of Kimmich bringing an end to his nine-year-long stay at Bayern. However, Bild has revealed a crucial adjustment Kimmich may have to do with if he wants to stay at Bayern.

Bayern believe that Kimmich should continue in the right-back position. The German international played as a right-back for much of the second half of last season. Considering the significant competition in midfield after the signing of Joao Palhinha, Kimmich may have to play in the full-back position to play regularly for Bayern. If he agrees to play in the right-back position, Bayern may open contract talks with the German international. Despite right-back being his secondary position, Kimmich is one of the best full-backs in Europe.

Bild reports that Kimmich hopes Kompany will recognize his value in midfield and give him an important role in the center of the park. The German midfielder feels settled in Munich but wants to play regularly in his favoured midfield position.

As things stand, a move away from Bayern looks likely for Kimmich. The 29-year-old midfielder can leave on a free transfer next summer, but Die Roten wants to part ways this summer to get a transfer fee. Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly revived interest in Kimmich. The French club tried to sign Kimmich in January. FC Barcelona and Manchester City have also been credited with concrete interest in him.

It remains to be seen if Bayern will look to sign another midfielder if Kimmich leaves the club. Palhinha will be the first-choice defensive midfielder, while Aleksandar Pavlovic and Konrad Laimer will compete for the number eight position. Leon Goretzka is also an option in midfield, but Bayern are open to selling him this summer. Josip Stanisic and Jamal Musiala can also play in the center of the park if needed.

Kimmich has been a fantastic player for Bayern. He is still a quality player, but leaving Die Roten might be the best decision for him if he wants to continue playing in midfield. A move away from Bavaria can take place quickly once Kimmich is done with talks with the club chiefs and Kompany.
