Bayern Munich target Hakan Çalhanoğlu will not be making the move to Germany this summer after declaring that he is happy at Inter Milan.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu has released a statement revealing that he will stay at Inter Milan beyond the summer transfer window despite rumors linking him with a move to Bayern Munich. Reports had claimed in recent days that the Bavarians wanted to sign the Turkey captain, and that he was keen on a move.

But with Inter Milan demanding a fee of around 60 million euros to sell Çalhanoğlu, there was always little chance of any potential transfer going through.

Now, the 30 year old has made it clear that he is happy to stay at Inter Milan. “In light of recent rumors circulating in the media, I would like to take this opportunity to address the situation directly,” Çalhanoğlu said in a statement on social media.

“I am extremely happy at Inter Milan. The relationship I share with the club and our incredible fans is truly special. Together, we have achieved significant milestones, and I am excited about the prospect of winning more trophies with Inter in the future.”

Blow for Bayern Munich in search for defensive midfielder?

Bayern Munich must now turn their attentions elsewhere as they look to bolster their midfield ranks. Signing a number six is said to be on top of the Rekordmeister’s list of priorities for this summer transfer window.

João Palhinha is said to be Bayern Munich’s top target. But negotiations with Fulham have been far from smooth sailing so far. Whether an agreement can be reached between the two clubs for the transfer of the Portugal international still remains to be seen.
