Didi Hamann does not believe that Bayern Munich will part ways with Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka this summer despite rumors linking the duo with moves away from the club.
Bayern Munich are in the midst of a squad overhaul, and have already made their first signing of the summer, bringing in central defender Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart. Bolstering the midfield is also high on the Bayern bosses’ agenda for this summer, with João Palhinha said to be their top target.
It has been reported in recent weeks that Bayern Munich would be willing to sell Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka if they were to receive suitable offers this summer in order to make way for Palhinha. But former Bayern, Liverpool and Manchester City midfielder Didi Hamann is confident that the two Germany midfielders will stay in Bavaria beyond the summer transfer window.
“Kimmich has one year left on his contract. I think he'll stay at Bayern,” Hamann told Sky Sport. “ Goretzka will also stay in Munich. If there are inquiries in the summer, I could imagine the club demanding a huge transfer fee. I don't know if anyone will pay that. As things stand today, I would say that both will still be there in the new season."
Kimmich was predominately used at right-back by Thomas Tuchel in the recently concluded season, while Goretzka struggled for consistency and also lost his place in the Germany squad. The former has 12 months left on his current contract, with the latter’s deal still has two years left to run.
