Bayern Munich were reportedly keen on appointing Oliver Glasner as head coach, only for their interest to be rebuffed by Crystal Palace.
The search for a new head coach has proven to be a tedious one for Bayern Munich, who have been rejected by a number of their top candidates already. Hansi Flick now appears to be the club's candidate of choice. But before making Flick their first-choice, the Bayern bosses were keen on appointing Oliver Glasner.
This is being reported by Sky Sport, who add that Bayern made an inquiry for Glasner, only for Crystal Palace to reject their interest and make it clear that he would not be leaving the club. The 49 year old has enjoyed an excellent start to life in the English Premier League.
The former Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt trainer has sparked an impressive resurgence at Crystal Palace, and led them to a stunning 4-0 win over Manchester United earlier this month.
This is not the first time Bayern have been linked with a move for Glasner, who was regarded as one of the top head coaches in the Bundesliga during his time with Eintracht Frankfurt. The Austrian led the Eagles to the Europa League title in 2022, and is known for playing dynamic and proactive football.
With Oliver Glasner set to stay at Crystal Palace, Bayern Munich are now looking to bring Hansi Flick back to the club. Talks are already said to be underway, and the former Germany head coach is keen to return to Bavaria.
