Bayern Munich boss Christoph Freund has refused to rule out a last-minute addition to the squad following the team's disappointing defensive showing against Wolfsburg.

The Bayern Munich defense was in the spotlight once again on Sunday as two sloppy errors nearly resulted in Vincent Kompany's side coming away empty-handed in their Bundesliga opener against VfL Wolfsburg.

"The transfer window is still open" - Christoph Freund on further new signings at Bayern Munich

While Bayern were able to rescue a late 3-2 win thanks to Serge Gnabry's strike, the team's second-half performance left a lot to be desired. And Christoph Freund hinted after the game that we could see some activity at the club in the final few days of the transfer window.

"We are actually very happy with the squad, but we now have two injured players in defense. We have to take that into account and we have done that. Not much more can happen. It's not our plan, but the transfer window is still open for a few days."

This comes after Josip Stanišić picked up an injury that is set to sideline him for a period of up to two months. Hiroki Ito is also out with an injury, while Kim Min-jae was reportedly carrying a muscle injury on Sunday. Bayern sold Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United for a combined fee of around 70 million euros recently.

The Bayern bosses have insisted in recent weeks that further new signings are not planned this summer. But now we could be in for a busy end to what has been a whirlwind transfer window for the Bavarians.
