Bayern Munich winger subject to interest from Rayo Vallecano
The signings from January have been a mixed bag for Bayern Munich. Eric Dier has done well to break into the starting XI, but Sacha Boey and Bryan Zaragoza are yet to make an impact on the pitch. Boey has suffered two serious injuries that have kept him out for ten weeks, while Zaragoza has struggled to get game time under Thomas Tuchel.
Bayern had initially planned to sign Zaragoza in the summer. A deal with Granada was agreed in December. However, Kingsley Coman’s serious knee injury in January forced Die Roten to bring forward the signing of Zaragoza. The Spaniard arrived in Munich at the end of the winter transfer window.
Since arriving in Munich, Zaragoza missed a few games due to illness. He has made two appearances for Die Roten since recovering from illness. The Spaniard’s last appearance for Bayern came against Mainz on March 9. He was not part of the squad in Bayern’s game against Darmstadt before the international break.
The start to life at Bayern has been difficult for Zaragoza. He doesn’t speak German or English, making the adaptation process longer than it usually is. Amidst the lack of game time with Bayern, Zaragoza is attracting interest from Spain.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Rayo Vallecano are keeping an eye on Zaragoza’s situation at Bayern. Vallecano are ready to make a loan offer for the Spaniard in the summer if they stay in La Liga. The Spanish club is yet to hold talks with the player and Bayern.
Meanwhile, Bayern have not made a definitive decision on Zaragoza. It would be incredibly harsh to write him off so quickly. His short-term future at Die Roten will depend on the new head coach. Thomas Tuchel will leave Bayern at the end of the season.
Zaragoza will struggle to get adequate playing time at Bayern in the next two months. Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry have returned from their injuries, while Mathys Tel has been doing well from the bench. Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sane are currently starting in the wide positions for Tuchel. Zaragoza may get opportunities from the bench, but there is a lot of competition for minutes amongst substitutes.
The Bavarian club will not quickly give up on Zaragoza. They will wait to listen to the new head coach’s plans for the Spaniard. If he is not going to get sufficient game time next season, a loan move may become an option. Even if he is going out on loan, Bayern will prefer him to stay in the Bundesliga to get used to the new league and Germany.
