Bayern Munich have been very active in the transfer market over the last few months when it comes to sealing deals for highly-rated young players. The Bavarian club agreed a deal for Adelaide United’s Nestory Irankunda, while Jonah Kusi-Asare arrived in Munich from AIK Solna during the winter transfer window. Bayern also tried to sign Matija Popovic, but Napoli won the race for the talented Serbian forward.
The record Bundesliga champions are also closely monitoring one of the promising young attacking midfielders in Serie A. According to Gazzetta Dello Sport (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern are one of the several Bundesliga clubs that are showing interest in Matias Soule. The 20-year-old attacking midfielder from Juventus is currently on loan at Frosinone.
Soule has been one of the best attacking midfielders in Serie A this season. He has scored ten goals in the league and provided two assists. The Argentine midfielder can play in all three positions behind the striker, but his best performances have come in the number ten role for Frosinone. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
Along with Bayern, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund have also shown interest in Soule. There is no concrete move made by any club for Soule, but there is going to be significant interest in him from several clubs during the summer. Juventus will hope for a bidding war to get the maximum fee for the 20-year-old midfielder.
Soule has been playing consistently this season, so he will look to get assurances over consistent playing time at his next club. Die Roten may not be the ideal place for him if he wants to play every weekend.
Bayern currently have Jamal Musiala in the attacking midfield role, while Thomas Muller is the experienced option in this position. In the wide positions, Die Roten already have several options including the new arrival, Bryan Zaragoza.
The only way Bayern can convince Soule is by agreeing to send him out on loan to get consistent playing time next season. The Argentine can return to Munich in 2025, which is likely to be the last year of Thomas Muller at the club. Soule can fight for a place in the team by the start of the 2025/26 campaign.
Bayern are reportedly expected to make tough decisions in the summer. If they end up selling a couple of wide players, then signing someone like Soule will make sense. In the event of no winger leaving Bavaria, Bayern are only expected to look for a striker that will replace Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the squad. The Cameroon international is expected to leave Munich when his contract expires at the end of the season.
