Bayern Munich star hopeful about return to German national team
The form of Bayern Munich forwards has been a sight to behold this season. Vincent Kompany has managed to get most of the forwards firing this season. Serge Gnabry has also benefitted from the arrival of the Belgian coach at Bayern.
Gnabry needed a positive start to the campaign after having a tough time with injuries last season. He struggled with different injuries throughout last season, which didn’t allow him to build any sort of rhythm on the pitch.
Going into the summer, there were significant doubts about Gnabry’s future at Bayern. The Bavarian club was reportedly open to listening offers for him. Newcastle United showed interest in the German forward, but he was determined to stay in Munich and get back to his best after a disappointing season.
Gnabry has been productive for Bayern in the final third this season. The 29-year-old winger has managed to contribute with two goals and two assists in six appearances across all competitions. Along with productivity in the final third, Gnabry has been very good off the ball helping Bayern to win the ball higher up the pitch.
After enjoying a good start to the season, Gnabry is still hoping to get back into the German squad. Gnabry told the media on Tuesday (via iMiaSanMia) that he was bitter about not being able to play at the Euros for Germany. The German winger was on the sidelines during the summer due to a hamstring injury.
"I think I've said before that there are not many worse things than missing an event like the Euros at home. That was extremely bitter - but at some point you have to put it behind you and move on. That's why I would be very happy to be able to play for Germany again."

Gnabry needs more game time to force into Nagelsmann’s plan for Germany
Julian Nagelsmann has largely been consistent with the forwards he has been selecting for the national team. Gnabry needs to excel in more games for Die Roten to become part of Nagelsmann’s plans for the German national team. As of now, the sample size of six games is very small to suggest he is back to his best.
The 29-year-old winger is unlikely to be part of the squad for the international games in October. If he remains consistent with performances and productivity, Gnabry could get a call-up from DFB for the games in November.
With Michael Olise cementing a place in the starting XI, Gnabry is currently competing with Kingsley Coman for the left flank. The French winger has not been at his best, giving Gnabry opportunities to play regularly in the coming weeks. Gnabry has specifically done well against English clubs, so he will hope to get on the scoresheet against Aston Villa later today.
