Former Bayern Munich forward Joshua Zirkzee is set to join Manchester United, and the Bavarians will be entitled to 50% of the transfer fee when the transfer goes through.

Joshua Zirkzee’s excellent breakthrough campaign with Bologna in Italy saw him attract the interest of several big clubs. AC Milan were thought to be leading the race for the Dutch forward’s signature. But it appears that he will now be joining Manchester United, with the Athletic reporting that the deal is close to being finalized.

The report adds that Manchester United already have an agreement on personal terms with Zirkzee, and they must now decide whether to pay his release clause of 40 million euros in full or negotiate a separate deal.

Regardless, Bayern Munich would be entitled to 50% of the total transfer fee once the move goes through. This is thanks to a sell-on clause that was negotiated when Zirkzee joined Bologna in 2022. This would be a nice revenue boost for the Bayern bosses, who are in the midst of overhauling their roster.

Zirkzee scored 12 goals and assisted a further seven for Bologna last season, and will hope to make a similar impact at Manchester United. The 23 year old could be joined at Old Trafford by compatriot Matthijs de Ligt.

Bayern Munich are ready to part ways with the center-back, and talks with Manchester United are currently ongoing. Max Eberl and co. reportedly want a transfer fee of around 50 million euros plus bonus payments for de Ligt, who is keen to join the Premier League club.
