AC Milan look set to complete the signing of talented striker Joshua Zirkzee, which could see Bayern Munich net around 20 million euros.
On the back of his breakthrough campaign with Bologna, Joshua Zirkzee appears to be on the verge of a big money move AC Milan. According to Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have informed Bologna that they are planning to trigger the €40 million release clause in the 23 year old’s contract.
The Serie A runners-up will now hope to reach an agreement with Zirkzee on personal terms before completing his signing in the coming days.
Bayern Munich had an option to bring Zirkzee back to the club this summer, but have seemingly decided against activating it. Instead, they will receive 50% of the total transfer fee for the player thanks to a sell-on clause in his contract. So the Bavarians should earn around 20 million euros from the sale.
Zirkzee spent five years at Bayern Munich and made 17 first-team appearances for the club before moving to Bologna on a permanent transfer last summer. The Dutch forward scored 12 goals and registered seven assists across all competitions this season, and his impressive performances helped Bologna qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
A number of big clubs were said to be in the race to sign Joshua Zirkzee this summer, including Arsenal and Juventus. But now it looks like he might be off to AC Milan, where he will hope to continue his development and compete for the Serie A title.
