Bayern Munich will be active in the summer transfer window. New head coach Vincent Kompany would like to add his own imprint on the club, if Die Roten are to stand any chance of reclaiming their Bundesliga dominance.
Last summer, they brought in some excellent additions, including their most expensive signing of all-time, Harry Kane. This summer will be no different but given the economic status of the sport, Bayern may be forced to be more frugal and search far and wide for the best bargains. After all, this is not the worst transfer strategy at the best of times.
Thankfully for Bayern Munich, a golden opportunity has presented itself to them in the form of a world-class player being available for just £50m...
Bayern Munich ponder Man City transfer with tempting £50m release clause
According to a report from English outlet Daily Star, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Bernardo Silva from Man City. The Portugal international who recently scored at EURO 2024 has a release clause in his Etihad Stadium contract which could see him leave for as little as £50m. Bayern could certainly test this clause, to see if Silva would be willing to join Kompany's new project.
Interestingly, Bernardo Silva played with Vincent Kompany during Kompany's final two years as a Man City player. Therefore, the two already have a good relationship. Silva would be joining an emerging English-speaking core at Bayern Munich, so he would take little to no time to adjust to life in Munich.
It is important to note that Bayern are also exploring the options of signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace. Therefore, this interest in Bernardo Silva could easily be secondary in the mind of Vincent Kompany. However, the original report does claim that Silva could be signed on top of Olise, in what would be a dream transfer scenario for Bayern Munich and their fans.
