The first three days of the round of 16 games at Euro 2024 have been productive for Bayern Munich players. After victories between Bayern’s German contingent and Harry Kane’s English team over the weekend, the French Die Roten players defeated Belgium on Monday.

Dayot Upamecano played a crucial role in the French team’s 1-0 win against the Belgian side. The 25-year-old center-back started alongside William Saliba in the heart of defense. He delivered a flawless defensive performance to keep France water-tight at the back.

Upamecano completed 98% of the passes he attempted against Belgium. He won all his tackles and made three clearances in the game. Kingsley Coman was an unused substitute against Belgium. It has been a frustrating tournament for the French winger until now. He has not played a sizeable portion of a game to make a positive impact on the pitch in this competition.

Bayern will be pleased with the performances of Upamecano at Euros. The Bavarian club is looking to part ways with the French defender in the summer. A good run at Euros will boost his transfer value. Upamecano will hold talks with Bayern and Vincent Kompany after the competition to decide his next step.

The final matchday of the round of 16 will involve several Bayern players. Matthijs de Ligt’s Dutch side will take on Romania on Tuesday. De Ligt has not started a game at the Euros, but he remains confident about making an impact for the Dutch side in the tournament. He will hope to get a chance from the bench against Romania on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Konrad Laimer will be in action for Austria against Turkey. Austria has been one of the most impressive teams at Euros. They have been relentless with their pressing. Laimer didn’t start against the Dutch in the final group game, but he is expected to start against Turkey on Tuesday. De Ligt and Laimer will play against each other in the quarter-final if Austria and Netherlands win tomorrow.
