The final international break of the season came to an end on Tuesday. Bayern Munich will welcome international players back to Sabner Strasse on Wednesday and start the preparations for Saturday’s big game against Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern suffered a blow last week when Manuel Neuer withdrew from the German squad due to a minor training injury. It does look like Thomas Tuchel and Die Roten will not have Neuer available for Der Klassiker.

According to Kicker, Sven Ulreich will start for Bayern against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Neuer will need more time to complete the recovery. The Bavarian club doesn’t want to rush Neuer back into action. They want him to be fit for the Champions League games against Arsenal in April.

Ulreich has done a commendable job as Neuer’s deputy this season. He was in good form during the first three months of the season when Neuer was still recovering from a leg injury. Die Roten rewarded Ulreich’s good performances by extending his contract until the end of next season. The Bavarian club will hope to see another good performance from Ulreich on Saturday.

Harry Kane set to resume training on Wednesday

Harry Kane remains in contention for the game against Borussia Dortmund. The 30-year-old striker returned to Munich this week after not playing in England’s two games during the international break due to an ankle injury. As per reports in Germany, Kane will resume training on Wednesday.

Kingsley Coman has been training at Sabner Strasse during the international break. The French forward was eyeing a return after the international break. It remains to be seen if he will be part of the squad on Saturday.

Noussair Mazraoui will be back in action sooner rather than later. The Moroccan right-back has been on the sidelines since mid-February due to a muscle injury. Mazraoui has been spotted in training with Coman during the international break, suggesting his return is around the corner. Mazraoui will be crucial for Bayern in the next two months since Sacha Boey will be out for six weeks due to a hamstring injury.

It is a must-win game against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. Bayern are ten points behind Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. They have to win every game until the end of the season to stand a chance of making a comeback in the title race. Thomas Tuchel will hope injury problems will ease out in April as they face crunch games in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
