Bayern Munich and Manchester United both look set to miss out on the signing of Xavi Simons, with RB Leipzig confident of securing his signature for another season.
Xavi Simons was Bayern Munich's top target for the attacking midfield position, and Manchester United also had the Dutch star on their list of targets. But PSG's insistence on sending the 21 year old out on loan has complicated matters. And it appears that RB Leipzig are increasingly confident of getting the green light to sign Xavi on loan for another season.
Bundesliga rivals set to beat Bayern in race to sign Xavi Simons
This worrying update comes from Fabrizio Romano, who states that the transfer battle between Bayern and Leipzig is ongoing. But Leipzig are leading the race as they only want to sign Xavi on a straight loan deal, which is more in line with PSG's wishes.
Bayern Munich have seemingly switched their focus towards the signing of Désiré Doué, and have already made a second bid for the talented French forward.
Xavi Simons spent last season on loan at RB Leipzig and enjoyed an excellent campaign in the Bundesliga. He is keen to leave PSG, and already has an agreement in place on important personal terms parameters with Bayern. However, it appears that Leipzig have the upper hand in the race for his signature.
In 43 appearances for RB Leipzig last season, Xavi Simons scored ten goals and assisted a further 15. He also showcased his potential and ability at the European Championship this summer, helping the Netherlands reach the semifinals.
