Bayern Munich to face Manchester United competition in race to sign Assan Ouédraogo
The race to sign one of the most exciting young talents in German football is heating up, and Bayern Munich will have to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool to sign Assan Ouédraogo.
Bayern Munich have been in pole position to sign highly rated Schalke 04 midfielder Assan Ouédraogo for quite some time now. It has even been reported in recent weeks that talks are already at an advanced stage. However, an agreement has not yet been reached and now it appears that clubs from the English Premier League could look to swoop in.
According to Sky Sport, Manchester United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are all in the running to sign Ouédraogo, who is set to leave Schalke 04 this summer. The 18 year old has a release clause in his contract, and his signature will cost around 15 million euros.
The report adds that Ouédraogo's preference would be to stay in Germany, which could play into Bayern Munich's hands. RB Leipzig are also said to be interested in signing the 2023 U-17 World Cup winner, who made 17 appearances for the Schalke 04 first-team this season.
Ouédraogo was forced to spend significant time on the sidelines due to various injuries this season, but still managed to showcase his incredible potential. He also became the youngest player to ever score a goal for the Royal Blues.
It is no surprise that some of the world's biggest clubs are interested in signing Assan Ouédraogo, who has the potential to develop into one of Germany's top midfielders. And the Bayern Munich bosses will certainly need to move quickly if they want to get the deal over the line.
