Bayern Munich have been actively working on deals to sign young talent across the globe. They struck a deal for Adelaide United’s Nestory Irankunda in November, while Jonah Kusi-Asare arrived from AIK Solna in January. With Christoph Freund at the helm as sporting director, Bayern are looking to sign the best young talent in the world.

In terms of home-grown talent, Die Roten have been working on a deal to sign highly-rated Assan Ouédraogo from Schalke. It looks like they are close to clinching the deal. According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are in pole position to sign Ouédraogo in the summer transfer window.

Ouédraogo’s contract at Schalke has a release clause between €9-12 million until June 15. Schalke are open to parting ways with the teenager in the summer since they need funds for squad planning. RB Leipzig are also interested in signing the 18-year-old midfielder.

The youngster wants to play regularly next season. He is ready for a transfer in the summer, provided he is loaned back to Schalke for one more season. RB Leipzig want to integrate the player into the senior squad straightaway, while Bayern are open to loaning him to Schalke for the next campaign. Die Roten’s willingness to do a favourable deal for the player makes them favourites to seal this transfer.

Despite suffering a serious injury during the second half of the season, Ouédraogo has enjoyed a productive debut season with the senior team at Schalke. He ended up playing 17 league games in the second division. The young attacking midfielder scored three goals for Schalke. His impressive performances also attracted the attention of Germany’s head coach Julian Nagelsmann. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)

Ouédraogo needs consistent game time at the senior level to continue his development. He will struggle to find adequate playing time at Bayern. Staying at Schalke for one more season after sealing a move to Die Roten will be the ideal scenario for the teenager. Schalke have already provided Ouédraogo an ideal environment to thrive, which makes them the perfect loan destination for next season.

With the deadline for the release clause not far away, Bayern will look to wrap up a deal for Ouédraogo in the coming days. Christoph Freund has led negotiations for deals to bring young players to the club in the last eight months. He will look to add another feather in his cap by convincing Ouédraogo to join Bayern.

Bayern cannot compete with Premier League and state-backed clubs in the transfer market. They can sign a superstar like Harry Kane once every two seasons, but focusing on getting the best upcoming talent like Ouédraogo consistently can help them to win silverware in Germany and Europe.
