Bayern Munich have seen many great players come and unfortunately, they have also seen some great players go. Perhaps the player exit which hurt the most in recent times is Robert Lewandowki, when the Poland international and Bayern Munich legend exited Bavaria to sign for FC Barcelona in 2022.

After two seasons, Lewandowski has impressed in Catalonia to say the least. He has scored 24 La Liga goals across two campaigns, impressing those in Spain. In fact, in his last six Liga games, Lewandowski has netted six goals - It's this kind of goal return which Bayern Munich fans reminisce about.

However, as it's been revealed, Robert Lewandowski and the former FC Barcelona manager and club legend Xavi did not always see eye to eye.

Bayern Munich legend is the reason why Barcelona sacked Xavi

According to a report from Sport, Xavi had planned to sell Robert Lewandowski, despite the legendary Polish striker racking up the goals to this day. It is believed that age played a big factor but the Barcelona higher-ups did not resonate with the desire to sell Lewandowski, hence why Xavi has been sacked.

Now, FC Barcelona have appointed former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick as their new head coach for the 2024/25 season. This is an appointment which makes sense and much to the annoyance of Bayern Munich fans, will see Flick and Lewandowski reunite at a new club.

Hansi Flick certainly got the best out of Robert Lewandowski while they were at Bayern Munich. Therefore, Lewandowski will be excited to reunite with the former Bayern Munich boss at his new club.

It must be said that the insistence to sell Robert Lewandowski was a strange one, from Xavi's perspective. At this rate, Lewy will continue to bang in goals even when he reaches the age of retirement.
