The Austrian sporting director has already sealed a deal for exciting Nestory Irankunda from Adelaide United. The talented teenager is set to join Die Roten next summer. He is expected to be part of the youth team before getting into the first team. The Bavarian club is also keeping a close eye on one of the top talents from Brazil.
According to Globo in Brazil, Bayern are scouting Corinthians’ impressive attacking midfielder Breno Bidon. Die Roten have already held talks with the teenager’s representatives in November. His current deal with Corinthians expires in 2025, and there is a release clause worth €18.5 million in his contract.
Bidon will end up playing for the youth team if he ends up joining Bayern. He is primarily an attacking midfielder with a good eye for a goal. The youngster has won titles in different age groups at Corinthians. He signed his first professional contract with the Brazilian club in 2022.
The record Bundesliga champions have not hesitated in paying big fees on top young talent. They managed to beat competition from several clubs to sign Alphonso Davies from Vancouver Whitecaps five years ago. The Canadian quickly became a key player for Die Roten. Jamal Musiala is another example of Bayern trusting young talent. Bidon will have a clear pathway to the team if he seals a move to Bavaria.
Bayern president Herbert Hainer recently admitted that he wants to see more young players from the campus becoming part of the first team. Freund was specifically appointed as sporting director to improve this aspect of the club and bring a balance to the squad when it comes to having a good mix of star players and young players.
The Bavarian club will certainly look to strengthen the youth squads during January. It wouldn’t be a surprise if they have a summer deal lined up for Bidon during the winter transfer window. From the first team's point of view, Freund and Thomas Tuchel will look to sign a defender to strengthen the squad for the second half of the season. Tuchel may also push for a holding midfielder after failing to get one in the summer.
