Bayern Munich are hopeful about completing a deal for Michael Olise over the weekend. The French winger is in Munich to complete the transfer on Sunday after opting to join Bayern over Chelsea and Newcastle United. Bayern have already agreed personal terms with the French winger. Olise is not the only French attacking player Bayern are interested in signing this summer.
According to Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have young forward Désiré Doué from Rennes on their list of transfer targets for the summer. The French winger can become a much more concrete target for the Bavarian later in the summer if they manage to raise funds from sales.
Meanwhile, SportBild (via iMiaSanMia) has reported that Doué’s agents have already held talks with Die Roten in Munich. However, the transfer is not imminent. Rennes will look to get a significant fee for the 19-year-old winger. His current deal with the French club expires in 2026.
Die Roten’s interest in Doué has been reported in France. As per French journalist Abdellah Boulma, Bayern and Paris Saint-Germain have a concrete interest in Doué. Rennes are yet to receive a concrete bid for the young winger.
Doué enjoyed a productive campaign with Rennes last season. He started 17 Ligue 1 games and made 40 appearances across all competitions. The youngster ended the campaign with four goals and four assists. The French winger can beat players with dribbling and works equally hard defensively. (Stats courtesy: Whoscored)
It will be intriguing to see if Bayern plan to loan Doué back to Rennes if they sign him this summer. Doué needs regular game time for his development. He will be better served by staying at Rennes for one more season. Die Roten will have several senior attacking options next season. The Bavarian club is also in negotiations with PSG to sign Xavi Simons on a loan deal.
Bayern want to part ways with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry this summer to make space for the new signings. Coman is open to leaving Munich with significant interest shown by his former club, PSG. The French winger will resolve his future after the Euros. Gnabry is not actively looking to leave Die Roten. The German forward wants to stay in Munich and get back to his best after enduring a difficult campaign. If Gnabry and Coman end up leaving Die Roten, a move for Doué may happen, or else Die Roten try to sign him next summer if he stays at Rennes.
