Bayern Munich interested in signing Everton midfielder
Bayern Munich wanted to strengthen the midfield department last summer when Ryan Gravenberch left Bavaria to join Liverpool on deadline day. Die Roten had a deal agreed for Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, but the move collapsed at the last minute. Bayern decided against signing Palhinha in the winter transfer window.
The emergence of Aleksandar Pavlovic this season improved Tuchel’s midfield options. Pavlovic can play in the holding midfield position and dictate the tempo of the game. His impressive performances for Bayern earned him a call-up to the German national team in the recently concluded international break.
Despite the emergence of Pavlovic, Bayern are expected to make changes to the midfield department in the summer. The Bavarian club may once again shop in the Premier League to improve their options in the center of the park.
According to The Telegraph, Bayern are ready to step up their efforts to sign Amadou Onana from Everton. The Belgian midfielder is one of the transfer targets assessed by Bayern to strengthen the defensive midfield position. Everton may look to get €70 million for Onana since he is young and one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
Onana is defensively resolute and offers quality on the ball in the center of the park. The 22-year-old will improve with time, making him a valuable player for Everton. Onana is also attracting interest from top Premier League clubs. Bayern will have to blink first to beat the competition for Onana.
Everton currently find themselves in a tricky financial situation. The Merseyside club may have to sell key players in the summer to avoid breaching financial fair play rules of the Premier League. Die Roten will look to capitalize on this opportunity and seal an early deal for Amadou Onana.
Apart from Onana, Bayern have been heavily linked with Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi. The Spanish midfielder reportedly has a release clause worth €60 million in his contract. Arsenal will provide stiff competition to Bayern if they decide to pursue the signing of Zubimendi.
The addition of a new defensive midfielder at Bayern Munich may have an impact on the future of Joshua Kimmich. The German midfielder is heavily linked with a move away from Bavaria in the summer when he enters the final 12 months of his contract. Kimmich will not be short of offers in the summer since several top European clubs are interested in signing him.
