Bayern Munich are expected to step up the remainder of their transfer business next week as the senior squad departed from South Korea on Sunday. The Bavarian club will play a couple of friendly games before their first competitive game of the season in DFB Pokal.
In terms of new signings, Bayern want to add an attacking player and central defender to the squad before the end of the transfer window. With Xavi Simons opting for a loan move to RB Leipzig, Bayern are putting all their efforts into securing a deal for Rennes winger Désiré Doué.
According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern have an edge over PSG to sign Doué. The French champions have made a superior offer to Rennes, but the winger is tilting towards a move to Bavaria. Doué’s final decision will come after the Olympics. Bayern have to wait for Doué’s decision after doing all the groundwork to convince the player with help from Vincent Kompany.
Bayern’s second bid for the French winger is worth €55 million, including bonuses. Doué can play in all positions in the attack behind the striker. He excelled for Rennes last season after getting consistent game time in Ligue 1. The 19-year-old winger is considered one of the most exciting young talents in Europe.
Doué’s arrival may trigger departures at Bayern
Die Roten are currently operating with the motto of sell to buy at this stage of the transfer window. They plan to make space in the attack for Michael Olise and Désiré Doué. Bryan Zaragoza has been told to go out on loan. The Spaniard could return to La Liga since Valencia and Girona show strong interest in him.
Apart from Zaragoza, Bayern are also open to sanctioning permanent transfers of Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman. Doué is expected to get an adequate amount of playing time next season if he moves to Munich, which could force Coman and Gnabry to weigh up their options to get consistent game time next season.
Coman has attracted interest from PSG and Turkey, but a transfer is yet to materialize. He has no plans to move to Turkey at this stage of his career. It remains to be seen if PSG will move for Coman if they fail to sign Doué. Gnabry is not actively looking for a new club since he is determined to prove himself at Bayern next season. However, a new arrival may make it difficult for him to get consistent playing time.
