Bayern Munich have gone past the deadline to sign Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. The Bavarian club is aware of the transfer fee needed to clinch the deal, but they need to facilitate departures to make space for Tah. Bayern want Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt to leave Munich in order to conclude the remainder of their transfer business.

According to Sky Sports, De Ligt and Mazraoui are still expected to join Manchester United. The negotiations between the two clubs continue to progress. Both players have already agreed to five-year contracts with the Premier League side.

The Red Devils had a joint bid rejected by Bayern last week. There was bemusement amongst the camps of both players since Manchester United’s offer was closer to what Bayern wanted for them. Despite rejecting the bid from Manchester United, Bayern remain eager to sell De Ligt and Mazraoui to make room for new signings.

Mazraoui and De Ligt will travel to London with Bayern for the friendly game against Tottenham Hotspur. There is a good possibility Manchester United and Bayern will look to hold further talks over the weekend since the Bavarian club’s chiefs will be in England.

Manchester United face competition from Liverpool for De Ligt

Noussair Mazraoui has his heart set on a move to Manchester United. He decided against joining West Ham. The London-based club had already agreed a fee with Die Roten. Matthijs de Ligt has also given a clear preference to Manchester United. However, the Red Devils may face competition for his signature from one of their fierce rivals.

According to Football Insider in England, Liverpool are also showing interest in Matthijs de Ligt. Arne Slot wants to pair De Ligt with Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of defense.

Manchester United certainly have the edge over Liverpool since they have already agreed personal terms with De Ligt. However, the negotiations with Bayern need to progress soon as there are three weeks left in the summer transfer window.

Apart from De Ligt and Mazraoui, Bayern are also looking to find a new club for Kingsley Coman before the end of the summer transfer window. The French winger will be allowed to leave Die Roten on loan with the option to buy. Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and FC Barcelona are the top contenders to sign Coman before the deadline day. The Bavarian club wanted to sell more senior players, but they have struggled to convince these players to move on this summer.
