Bayern Munich decide against signing key target
By Tushar Bahl
Bayern Munich have seemingly pulled out of the race to sign Jonathan Tah, with the center-back now set to stay with Bayer Leverkusen.
Jonathan Tah was thought to be Bayern Munich's top transfer target for central defense, but it appears that he will not be making the move to Bavaria this summer. According to Kicker, Bayern have decided against signing the Germany international and will not pursue a move for him even if they manage to sell Matthijs de Ligt, who is wanted by Manchester United.
The magazine claims that there is frustration within the Bayern heirarchy over how the Tah saga has played out this summer. Bayern had an agreement in place on personal terms with the 28 year old, and the decision to pull out of talks with Bayer Leverkusen has led to some irritation among those in charge.
Contrasting speculation surrounding Jonathan Tah as deadline expires
Sky Sport and BILD believe that the deal is not completely off yet, and Bayern Munich could still look to complete the signing of Tah if they do manage to sell Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt before the transfer window closes.
But Bayer Leverkusen had set a deadline to get the deal done, which expired yesterday. Now it remains to be seen if they would be willing to sell to a direct rival so late in the transfer window.
Jonathan Tah has less than 12 months left on his current contract with Bayer Leverkusen, and is looking to leave Xavi Alonso's side this summer as he wants a new challenge. Manchester United have also shown interest in Tah, but de Ligt is said to be their prefered target.
