On Tuesday night, Bayern Munich recorded a thumping 9-2 victory against Dinamo Zagreb to get the ball rolling in their 24/25 Champions League campaign. As a result, several records were broken. Let's crunch the numbers and see what they are.

When Thomas Muller was introduced for Jamal Musiala midway through the second half, he became the player with the most Champions League appearances for one club. The German forward has played 152 Champions League games for the Bavarian club. He celebrated the historic milestone with an assist for Leroy Sane.

With the 9-2 victory, Bayern Munich became the first club in Champions League history to score nine goals in a single game. The win against Dinamo Zagreb was also Bayern's biggest win in their Champions League history. Vincent Kompany got the biggest result ever by a coach on their Champions League debut.

With the win at Allianz Arena on Tuesday, Bayern have now won their last 21 Champions League opening games with an aggregate score of 60-7, which is a Champions League record.

Whilst the following stat does not break or equal anything, it is equally interesting. Bayern scored more goals against Zagreb than 14 of the 32 Champions League sides from last season managed in their entire campaigns.

Historic night for Harry Kane

With Harry Kane's second goal of the game, he became the outright top English goalscorer in Champions League history with 31 goals. His opening goal had equaled the record, previously held by Wayne Rooney. The English striker further extended his new record, and now sits on 33 Champions League goals. Kane's third penalty of the game made him the first-ever player to score three penalties in a single Champions League game.

Michael Olise's brace made him the first Frenchman to score two goals on his Champions League debut since Thierry Henry did so, back in 1997.

Musiala became one of two players to have 10+ touches in the opposition box, create seven+ chances, and provide multiple assists in a Champions League game across the last nine seasons, after Neymar against Celtic in 2016. (All stats courtesy: iMiaSanMia)
