The first international break of 2024 has arrived midway through March. Bayern Munich players have already travelled to their respective national team camps. It was set to be a big week for Aleksandar Pavlovic as he was called up for the German national team. However, it does look like he may have to wait a couple of months to make his debut for Germany.

According to Kicker and other German media outlets, due to illness, Pavlovic will miss both games for Germany in the ongoing international break. The 19-year-old midfielder has been struggling with tonsillitis. Julian Nagelsmann will not call a replacement for Pavlovic.

The young midfielder had suffered an injury to his eye during the win against Darmstadt on Saturday. Pavlovic was substituted at the hour mark, but this injury was not big enough to keep him out of action during the international break. Unfortunately, he was struggling with tonsilitis at the start of the week, which didn’t allow him to join the German squad.

The young midfielder will stay in Munich to completely recover from the tonsilitis problem. Bayern and Tuchel will hope that he recovers in time for the clash against Borussia Dortmund on March 30.

It is a massive shame for Pavlovic to miss these two games as he has been looking forward to making his debut for the national team. The 19-year-old midfielder has been a revelation for Bayern this season. He has been a mainstay in the starting XI during the last few weeks under Thomas Tuchel.

Serbia and Germany were in a tussle to acquire the services of Pavlovic on the international stage. He eventually decided to represent Germany. Nagelsmann rewarded his strong performances for Bayern with a place in the squad for the games against France and Netherlands.

Pavlovic will have to wait until the end of the season to play for Germany. The competition for places in the midfield department of the German squad is stiff. The 19-year-old midfielder will need a good run of performances until the end of the season to book a place in the German squad for the European championship in the summer.

Apart from Pavlovic, Serge Gnabry and Leon Goretzka also need a strong end to the season to get back in the German squad. Gnabry has been troubled with injuries this season, which has forced Nagelsmann to drop him from the squad. Goretzka was unfortunate to miss out during the ongoing international break, as he has been in fine form for Bayern in the last few weeks.
