Difficulty in signing Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen

With the possibility of both De Ligt and Upamecano being sold, Bayern have been pushing for the purchase of Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen. However, despite having agreed personal terms with the player, the actual transfer fee remains a huge obstacle. With only one year left on Tah’s contract at Leverkusen, Bayern have no desire to pay more than €20 million, whilst Leverkusen currently want closer to €40 million for the German international.

Under these circumstances, Ito's arrival allows Bayern to look at other options if a move for Tah doesn't materialize. Hiroki Ito also provides the Bundesliga experience that Tah would have given to the squad. With Euro 2024 and Copa America 2024 currently providing a showcase for talent, the Bavarians can consider other options if the current Bundesliga champions decide to play hardball for Tah.
