Bayern Munich boss Max Eberl has commented on the future of Leon Goretzka, refusing to reveal whether the midfielder is still a part of the club's plans.
It has been a busy summer so far for Bayern Munich, and plenty of question marks still remain as we head into the final month of the transfer window. Having made three signings so far this summer, Bayern will likely need to sell some players before they are able to make further signings.
Leon Goretzka is one of the players who could leave Bayern Munich this summer. The 29 year old could find himself out of favor this season, especially after the signing of João Palhinha from Fulham. Goretzka is coming off a difficult season, and also lost his spot in the Germany squad for the European Championship.
Atletico Madrid are said to be interested in signing Goretzka, although it remains to be seen whether he would be open to a move away from Bayern this summer.
Max Eberl: The competition in midfield will be extremely fierce at Bayern
The man in charge of Bayern's transfer plans, Max Eberl, has now commented on the midfielder's future. “We discuss things in private, not in public. But one thing is clear: the competition in midfield will be extremely fierce. In the end, every player has to decide for himself what his next step is and whether they want to accept the competition ."
Leon Goretzka still has two years left on his current contract with Bayern Munich. The former Schalke 04 and VfL Bochum midfielder has made a total of 221 appearances for the Bavarians since joining the club in 2018.
