Arsenal approach Bayern Munich to sign their club legend
By Kian Long
Arsenal and Bayern Munich are set to meet again in the Champions League. They were drawn to face each other in a two-legged quarterfinal tie. It goes without saying that Bayern have a greater history against Arsenal in recent times but under Mikel Arteta, the North London side are transformed and flying high.
There are some incredible players who have represented both clubs, including Lukas Podolski, Serge Gnabry and Vivianne Miedema. The latest to join that excellent list could be Bayern Munich's club legend Joshua Kimmich.
Arsenal approach Bayern Munich to sign their club legend
According to a report by Football Transfers, Arsenal have approached Bayern Munich over the availability of Joshua Kimmich, who they see as a serious summer transfer target. However, Bayern refused to engage in any conversation about their star's future until the end of the season.
So, not a flat-out rejection from Bayern Munich, but they have pushed back any talk. This is a smart tactic from the Bavarian side, as they would not like the Champions League tie to be derailed by talk about Joshua Kimmich's future. Any psychological advantage which Arsenal could take, Bayern Munich want to avoid, understandably.
Joshua Kimmich is in good form, assisting two goals in his last three Bundesliga games. He played the full 90 minutes in Der Klassiker at the weekend, but it was a result which would have brought the club legend great shame.
Earlier in the season, Bayern Strikes reported on a fall-out between Thomas Tuchel and Joshua Kimmich. The Germany boss is only in his position until the end of the season, and Kimmich is expected to remain professional until then. Where he stands on his future, only time will tell.
Kimmich is an incredibly versatile player and has developed into one of the best midfielders in the world. Therefore, it's no surprise that Arsenal would like to add him to their ranks alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.
Do you think Bayern Munich should consider selling Joshua Kimmich to Arsenal?
