Thomas Tuchel hasn't had the best start to 2024, it must be said. The Bayern Munich manager has lost his last three matches across all competitions, and has fallen further down the Bundesliga pecking order with Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen holding an eight-point lead at the top of the table.
Furthermore, Bayern have picked up two red cards in the space of a week and are at a disadvantage as they head into the 2nd leg of the UEFA Champions League tie against Lazio.
While it certainly impacts the manager, it is often overlooked how bad form can affect the players. Particularly those players who were at the club before their new manager and are more accustomed to competing in Germany and Europe.
One of those players is Joshua Kimmich, who has established himself as a club legend since he first signed from RB Leipzig in 2015. Since his transfer, Kimmich has won eight Bundesliga titles and the Champions League.
8-time Bundesliga champion could leave Bayern Munich after Thomas Tuchel fall-out
However, according to Bild, Kimmich's relationship with Thomas Tuchel has broken down, so it looks like he may leave the club come the end of the season. The falling out is thought to have happened at the weekend, where Kimmich was discarded from the match against Bochum after an error which resulted in Bayern conceding a goal.
Kimmich has been a great player for Bayern Munich and has seen managers come and go during his time. However, he has never fallen out of favour under any manager except Tuchel. Ageing at 29 years old, Kimmich is interchanged within the starting eleven, not the sure-starter he once was.
It remains to be seen what happens with Thomas Tuchel. Rumour has it, the club wants to keep him as manager. However, fans will argue that things cannot continue the way they are going with Tuchel at the helm.
