Bayern Munich had mixed results from the signings made last summer. Joao Palhinha has struggled to establish himself in the starting XI, while Hiroki Ito’s debut season was plagued with injuries. Meanwhile, Michael Olise enjoyed a terrific debut season in Bavaria, contributing 17 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.

Olise played in every Bundesliga game for Bayern this season. He had his injury concerns at Crystal Palace, but availability has not been an issue at Die Roten. The French forward has also been consistent in terms of his performances, helping Bayern dominate teams in the league.

Along with shining in the final third, Olise has also worked hard off the ball for Bayern. The French forward has made sure that Die Roten never had a selection headache for the right-wing position throughout his season. Courtesy of his consistency in the Bundesliga, he won the rookie of the season award.

Along with fans, Olise’s teammates have also been impressed with the way he has seamlessly adapted to the Bundesliga. While talking to the media a few days ago (via iMiaSanMia), Joshua Kimmich hailed Olise’s work ethic and insisted that his performances this season have been extraordinary.

"When you see how early Michael always arrives, how he prepares himself before training, how long he works after training and how he works out in the gym, this is simply the reward for all the hard work. We shouldn't forget that he's coming off a summer without a vacation, because he played in the Olympics. To then pull off such performances at this level and hardly play a bad game is quite extraordinary."

The consistent performances at the club level have helped Olise to break into the French squad. It is a matter of time before he becomes an important player for the national team.

The Bavarian faithful will hope to see Olise excel in the upcoming Club World Cup. Bayern also have to make sure that they manage Olise’s workload next season since there will be a very short break in the summer.

Bayern need another Olise but on the left flank

The record Bundesliga champions moved quickly to seal the signing of Olise last summer, beating significant competition from top clubs in the Premier League. They need to find a player of similar quality and profile this summer, but someone who can play on the left flank.

With Leroy Sane likely to leave on a free transfer and Kingsley Coman looking for a move away from Bavaria, Die Roten need a quality left winger in the summer. They had hoped to have Florian Wirtz play occasionally on the left flank, but he looks destined to join Liverpool.

Bayern have registered interest in Kaoru Mitoma, Eberechi Eze, and Rafael Leao to strengthen the attack. Rekordmeister are also firm admirers of Nico Williams and Jamie Gittens. The Bavarian faithful will hope whoever comes in can hit the ground running as Olise did this season.
