After being out for almost two months, Sacha Boey will be back in the squad for Bayern Munich when they host Augsburg on Friday. The French right-back has been training with the first team over the last few weeks.

Boey has endured a torrid time with injuries since becoming Bayern’s record signing in winter transfer windows earlier this year. The French right-back was signed to effectively replace Benjamin Pavard. Boey was slowly integrated into the first team, but he suffered a serious injury during the second half of the season, which kept him out for weeks.

The 24-year-old right-back endured a mixed start to the new season before suffering a knee injury in September. He has made only four appearances for Bayern in 10 months. Die Roten didn’t have a fit right-back during the last two months since Josip Stanišić has been on the sidelines since pre-season due to a knee injury.

It has been a frustrating spell on the sidelines for Boey in Munich. However, the French forward has used this time to get used to life in a new city and culture. While talking to Sport1, Boey insisted that he feels settled at Bayern and is looking forward to getting back in the squad.

"I feel absolutely home in Munich. It took me a while to get used to things because I always analyse and question things a lot. I speak a lot with people and it's easy to open up here. I'm getting better and better at using the language, which makes everyday life a lot easier for me. Overall, I'm very happy with how things are going - and I hope that things will continue to improve"

Boey reflects on strong relationship with Vincent Kompany

The French right-back was expected to play a crucial role under Kompany this season. The Belgian coach reportedly wanted to sign Boey at Burnley in 2023. They eventually ended up working together in Munich.

In the same interview with Sport1, Boey admitted that he enjoys a strong relationship with Kompany. He also confirmed that the Belgian coach had a strong interest in the French full-back for a long time. The Bavarian faithful will hope Boey can finally emulate the performances he delivered at Galatasaray.

Boey is also eager to play for France at the senior level. The 24-year-old defender is working hard on his fitness. He is hoping that a call-up for the national team will arrive once he starts playing regularly for Die Roten.

Considering his injury woes in the last ten months, Bayern will slowly ease Boey back into action. The French full-back will start on the bench against Augsburg. Kompany will manage his workload and give Boey minutes from the bench in the next couple of weeks before getting a start. Boey will hope the injury woes are behind him and he is finally ready to kickstart his career in Munich.
