Bayern Munich will be in Bundesliga action on Saturday afternoon as they take on Mainz 05 in what will be their penultimate game of 2024.

Having opened up a six-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga standings, Bayern Munich will be determined to keep their strong run of form going ahead of the winter break. On Saturday, a tricky test against a free-scoring Mainz 05 side awaits the Bavarians, who won 4-0 when the two sides last met in October.

While they were beaten by Wolfsburg in a topsy-turvy contest last weekend, Mainz have enjoyed an excellent start to the season and are ninth in the Bundesliga standings going into Saturday's contest. Jonathan Burkardt has been scoring goals for fun for the 05ers, and has been well supported by the likes of Paul Nebel and Lee Jae-sung.

Bayern will again be without several key players on Saturday, with Harry Kane, Alphonso Davies, Kingsley Coman, and Manuel Neuer among those sidelined. So the responsibility to lead the way in attack will fall on the shoulders of the in-form Jamal Musiala and Michael Olise once again.

The two starred as FC Bayern comfortably dispatched Shakhtar Donetsk mid-week to boost their hopes of finishing in the UEFA Champions League top eight.
