Alphonso Davies
If we are talking about an individual statement performance, then look no further than Alphonso Davies. The 24-year-old left-back had missed the last few weeks while recovering from a hamstring injury. Upon his return to action on Friday, Davies looked more and more impressive the longer the game went on. With 93 touches during his 82-minute stay on the pitch, he was both a defensive and an offensive force on Bayern’s left-hand side and at times even centrally.
Davies found a teammate with 93% of his passes (64/69), including the pass, after a brilliant run, that set up Leroy Sané for Bayern’s fourth goal. He also made three recoveries. To round off a superb evening for him and his team Davies scored Bayern’s fifth goal with an excellent header on the far post. The Bayern chiefs have to find a way to keep him at the club beyond 2025.
