Bayern Munich conceded three second-half goals to Hoffenheim in the final Bundesliga game of last season to suffer a 4-2 defeat. Not only did Bayern lose a league title for the first time in 11 seasons, but they also didn’t even finish runners-up.
The entire 2023/24 Bundesliga campaign saw Bayern suffer several heavy defeats away from home. It was the lowest point for the Bavarian faithful in more than a decade. A Champions League title would have been a good remedy for fans, but they agonizingly fell short in the semi-final against Real Madrid.
Thomas Tuchel left Bavaria on the back of a trophyless season. Vincent Kompany succeeded him after Bayern failed to land their top priority targets. There were significant doubts about Kompany fixing Die Roten immediately due to his relative lack of experience at the top level.
Kompany has emphatically squashed these doubts over the last four months. Bayern have hit the ground running in the Bundesliga. The Bavarian club is unbeaten in the league and sit at the top of the table with a lead of five points after a quarter of the season.
