Bayern Munich have finally got their man as Luis Diaz left Liverpool’s camp in Japan for Munich. The Colombian forward has agreed to a four-year contract with Bayern. Die Roten will be paying a total fee of €75 million for Diaz.
The Bundesliga champions have huffed and puffed to finally get an attacking signing over the line. They faced disappointment in pursuit of all other attacking targets this summer. Florian Wirtz joined Liverpool, while Nico Williams and Bradley Barcola decided to stay at Athletic Bilbao and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.
Liverpool had initially rejected the first bid from Bayern for Diaz. The Merseyside club had insisted that Diaz would not be going anywhere this summer, which had forced Bayern to have alternate transfer targets ready to pursue.
Lyon winger Malick Fofana was on Bayern’s radar as an alternative for Diaz. The Belgian winger had excelled for Lyon last season, which also included an electric performance at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League.
With Diaz close to completing a move for Bayern, it is natural to think that Die Roten will not pursue a move for Fofana. However, the Bavarian club still needs another attacker since Jamal Musiala has been ruled out for several months due to injury. The Bundesliga champions will face intense competition from one particular Premier League club for the signing of Fofana.
Everton hold talks with Lyon for Malick Fofana
According to The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano, Bayern target Malick Fofana is holding talks with Everton for a transfer. The Belgian winger has not given a final green signal for the move, but talks continue between all parties.

A move to the Premier League will certainly appeal to Malick Fofana. He will get a chance to play against several big clubs in England. Moreover, Everton can also give adequate playing time, which he may not get at a bigger club at this stage of his career.
Bayern will turn their focus on signing Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart. However, the negotiations with VfB Stuttgart are complex, and they have shown no openness to do a deal. In such a scenario, a player like Fofana could be a valuable addition to the squad. The Belgian winger can deliver next season in a reduced role and eventually become a first-choice winger in the future. The Belgian forward will also be a much cheaper signing than Woltemade this summer.
