Is the real Leroy Sané finally showing up this season?

On Wednesday, Leroy Sané had his best showing of the season with a splendid all-round man-of-the-match performance. Just six minutes into the game, Sané opened the scoring with a stunning first-time strike from the right side of the box. He completed his brace three minutes into the second half with a touch of class on the far post with another first-time finish, caressing Tel’s cross into the back of the net, wrong-footing the goalkeeper in the process.

The 29-year-old winger was also on target with his crosses (1/1) and long balls (2/2) and did his fair share of work off the ball by winning four of his eight contested ground duels.

One game does not make up for the numerous underwhelming performances from Sané so far this season. However, if he can maintain this sort of form between now and June, he may very well get that sought-after contract extension.
