The future of Michael Olise heavily dominated the summer transfer window at Bayern Munich. Real Madrid had reportedly identified the French forward as one of their dream targets. Several reports in Spain, France, and Germany suggested that Florentino Perez wanted to make Olise the statement signing of the summer.

Olise was not agitating for a move away from Bayern, even though a few reports said he had set his heart on a move to the Spanish capital. However, Bayern consistently insisted that Olise would not leave, regardless of the offers they received for him.

The 24-year-old has been one of the standout players for Bayern since arriving from Crystal Palace two seasons ago. He has gotten better with every passing season. His quality and numbers in the final third have established him as one of the best wide players in the world at this point.

Olise has enjoyed a prolific start to the season. He scored a hat trick against Union Berlin on Friday to take his tally to 8 goals in 7 competitive games across all seasons. The French winger also has three assists to his name this season.

According to Bild (via iMiaSanMia), Bayern remain calm about the long-term future of Olise. He is part of the team’s spine, and Die Roten will not consider big offers anytime soon. The French winger is expected to decide on his long-term future next summer.

Olise’s current deal at Bayern expires in 2029. With three years left on his current deal, Bayern can certainly reject offers from European rivals next summer.

Bayern should push for a new contract during this season

Even though Olise currently has three years left on his contract, Bayern should adopt a proactive approach regarding his contract extension. He has been an exceptional player for Bayern and certainly deserves a hike in his salary and an improved contract.

Considering how they have lost a few star players to European rivals in the last decade or so, Bayern cannot afford to see Olise running down his contract.

The French winger has a brilliant project at Bayern, where he can grow as a player and win big trophies at a consistent rate. It is now up to the Bayern hierarchy to convince him that he will be better served staying in Munich during the peak of his career instead of looking for a transfer. The Bavarian faithful will hope Olise signs a new contract by the end of this season to avoid another summer of uncertainty.
